Our Business

Our goal is to provide the kind of service that we ourselves would demand. We treat everyone as though they were guests in our own homes. We want every event to truly be beyond what you are expecting. We act as our own harshest critics as we strive to offer the best food, the best customer service, the most beautiful tables, and the most relaxed atmosphere.

Melissa and Tricia have combined forces many times over the years. When Melissa worked for Christ the King Church in Bellingham, WA and was asked to cook for four back to back banquets of 300 each, it just seemed natural to ask Tricia to help. Both of the women had been catering for years as a service and a gift to their friends both separately and together.

It wasn't until January 2007 that their dream of going into business together came true. Neither one of them really had an idea of what the future held, but after buying more and more equipment, insurance, racks to hold the equipment, tablecloths, china, etc. they were open for business.

In early fall of 2010 they found themselves at a crossroad. After losing the commissary kitchen they had been a part of, either they had to expand or go out of business. They choose to build their own 3500 sq ft commissary kitchen in a Ferndale business park. On February 4, 2011 they opened in their new location as both Memorable Events and Catering and as MEC Culinary Kitchen.

We have found our client's to be kind in their praises of our ability and service, as they often recommend us to their friends. Our reputation has grown primarily by word of mouth.

Melissa Elenbaas

Melissa comes from a long line of great cooks and has been cooking for large groups since her early twenties. She first started cooking from scratch for hundreds while she was working on the Alaskan pipeline and then went on to restaurant cooking. Her background includes culinary arts, retail sales, customer service and administration.

Tricia Hendricks

Tricia has a strong culinary background. She has worked in food service and preparation since her early twenties. She has three young children and an inexhaustible amount of energy. We affectionately call her the "platter queen." She has the ability to turn food into art.

TOGETHER MELISSA AND TRICIA

Are both easily bored producing the same menus over and over. They both thrive on creativity and the opportunity to do and try new ideas in the culinary arts. They came up with the idea of custom creating new menus for each new event. Each event should have its own look and presentation to reflect the kind of ambiance you would like your guests to enjoy. Whether you are planning a corporate event, a wedding or a picnic you can expect that your event will be different from anyone else.

Together, Tricia and Melissa take every opportunity to read, attend seminars and to practice cutting edge techniques and styles.
